Duties:

  1. To prepare the Laboratory Safety Manual and ensure its regular updating.

  2. To ensure that laboratory safety training is provided to individuals who will work in the laboratories.

  3. To ensure occupational safety for individuals working in the laboratories.

  4. To monitor the inventory prepared by the Storage–Waste Officer.

  5. To ensure the updating of the list of all chemicals procured for the department.

  6. To identify infrastructure deficiencies related to laboratory safety and report them to the Infrastructure Committee.

  7. To receive annual maintenance requests from department laboratories, prepare a plan, and report it to the Infrastructure Committee.

  8. To report laboratory malfunctions to the Infrastructure Committee.

  9. To ensure that waste generated in laboratories is disposed of in a way that does not harm the environment or individuals.

  10. To keep records of accidents occurring in the department.

  11. To determine the principles for the use of laboratories for educational, research, and other purposes, and to announce these guidelines to faculty members, students, and other relevant parties.

  12. To investigate laboratory accreditation processes, prepare recommendations on the matter, and submit them to the FEDEK and Quality Committee.

  13. To complete the relevant sections of the self-assessment report related to these matters.
